How Long Food Lasts in the Freezer Part I

Seems few of us really know how long we should keep food in our freezers. Here are some general guidelines.


Meat, Poultry, and Seafood

  • Bacon: 1 month
  • Lunch meat (pre-packaged): 1-2 months
  • Sausage: 1-2 months
  • Chicken Nuggets/Patties: 1-3 months
  • Ground Beef: 3-4 months
  • Steak: 4-12 months
  • Pork: 4-12 months
  • Raw Fish: 6 months
  • Chicken: 9 months
  • Shrimp/Shellfish: 12-18 months
