It’s frustrating sometimes when all you can find at the grocery store are rock hard avocados. The good news is you don’t have to wait for days for them to ripen if you know this simple little trick. All you need is a baking sheet, tinfoil and that hard-as-a-rock avocado.
Wrap the avocado in tinfoil and set it on your baking sheet and set it in the oven at 200° F for ten minutes or until the avocado is soft. In some cases, depending on how hard the avocado is, it may tqake up to an hour to soften, but it beats waiting for days. Once the avocado has softened, place it in your fridge until it cools. The reason why this works is ethylene gas, which causes the fruit to ripen, surrounds the fruit when wrapped in tinfoil and puts the ripening process into hyperdrive.
