How to Simplify the Holidays - Tip 1

Pujols Kitchen - Thursday, December 01, 2016

Simplify the holidays? Is it even possible? The short answer is yes. Here is Tip #1 to help you relax this holiday season.

1.    Focus on the present. Instead of stressing about the holidays, worrying about the future and fretting about the past, find peace and joy by focusing on the present.

Make a gift!

We recommend Peppermint Sugar Scrub.

It's one of the best gifts you can make your family and friends to help ease their stress this holiday season. Cooling and energizing, research shows that peppermint oil relieves stress, tension headache pain, muscles spasms and pain as well as inflammation-causing chemicals in people with asthma.

To make your own peppermint sugar scrub, simply mix the following together:

• 1 cup granulated white sugar (or any sugar)
• 1/2 cup mild-flavored oil (grapeseed oil, avocado oil, or melted-but-not-hot coconut oil)
• 8-12 drops essential oils (or more/less to your desired strength)
Stir until combined, then transfer mixture to a cute little glass jar or Mason jar and tie red bakers twine around them for decor.

The Dos and Don'ts of Re-Gifting...

Pujols Kitchen - Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Christmas is just around the corner and while it may be tempting to save some money and re-gift yet another Elf DVD (your third copy) you received from Aunt Edna last year, consider some of the following dos and don’ts when it comes to regifting.

Do consider the original giver’s feelings. If this person is likely to notice you not using, wearing, or serving food on it in the future, opt to hold onto the gift rather than re-gifting.

Don’t regift family heirlooms or objects with sentimental value. Despite how cheap and ugly you think the item is, others in your family may want the object to stay in the family. Be respectful and keep it someplace safe, bringing it out for conversation from time to time.

Do gift with honesty. If you are re-gifting and the item doesn’t work for them, you’ll want to let them know it’s not an original gift but that you wanted them to have it because you thought they would benefit from it. If they don’t want it, don’t force it.

Don’t re-gift gift cards, especially since it might expire in a few months, and may not be fully loaded. Double check by calling the number on the back of the card.

Do re-gift to charity. This is an excellent alternative and someone in need will appreciate your holiday gesture. If the kitchen appliance, sweater, or scarf didn’t work for you, consider Goodwill.

Make a Difference this Holiday Season - Tip #5

Pujols Kitchen - Sunday, November 27, 2016

Rather than adding a few coins to that ever clanging change cup this holiday season, consider some of these ideas for making a difference in the lives of others.

Giving Tip #5

Consider going through the toys your kids received over the past year. If there is anything that they haven’t played with or are too old for, donate it to a local church or mission. This way, your kids will have room for anything new they get and another child can use the toy as happily as they did.
