Tostones (Fried Plantains)
A plantain may look like a large banana, but in the Dominican Republic a green plantain cooks up into Tostones, a treat the whole country adores. In this recipe you will peel, smash, fry, and garnish...
First, remove the hard peeling from the plantain.
Slice the plantain into inch-long sections.
In the Large Pujols Kitchen Saute Pan, heat oil.
Add the plantain pieces and let cook for about five minutes. Flip and fry the other side for five more minutes.
Remove the plantains fromthe oil. Using a plantain masher, or the bottom of a cup, flatten the plantains into a patty.
Place the plantains back into the oil until golden (another five minutes or so).
Take the tostones out of the oil, sprinkle with garlic salt and enjoy.
